Russell Bradley

Corporate Intelligence & Management Consultancy

Russell has worked for many years in risk management, corporate intelligence, and consulting. Prior to establishing Rubus in 2005 Russell worked for a number of years as head of Business Solutions for a risk management company in London and Moscow.

Previous experience in Russia goes back to 1993 as an independent consultant then working with BESO and later InterMatrix providing strategic business consultancy services for international and Russian clients.

Prior to this Russell worked for many years with Marconi Underwater Systems in technical product development and project management roles in the UK and abroad. Russell speaks fluent Russian, has an BSc degree in engineering and an MBA from Henley.

Nicholas Connell

Corporate Intelligence & Management Consultancy

Prior to merging with Rubus, Nicholas set up and ran a London based corporate intelligence consultancy.

This followed running a corporate intelligence operation for a listed company from 2005 to 2011.

He holds an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand (RSA) and an MBA from Imperial College (London). Although now non-practicing, he is dual qualified as a lawyer in both South Africa and the UK, and practiced as a lawyer until 2005, most recently as part of in-house counsel team with Rand Merchant Bank (UK).

He also qualified as a Financial Advisor and Investment Manager, working with Lincoln Financial and Heartwood Wealth Management respectively, and remains a member of both CISI and the CII.

Peter Göbel

Actuarial Consultancy

Peter has a background in financial services (insurance and asset management) and general management.

He holds a B Com in Econometrics from the University of Johannesburg and a BSc (Hons) in Actuarial Science from the University of the Witwatersrand. He also completed the Advanced Management Program in 1998 at Templeton College, Oxford. 

Peter started work as an actuarial clerk with a firm of consulting actuaries, before joining a large life assurance company, Momentum.  Peter spent seventeen years at Momentum, where he co-founded and later headed up its retail investment services business.  In 2002, Peter moved to the UK to head up Momentum’s European business operations.  In this capacity he gained experience in the City and on the Continent of European, both in insurance and in investment management.

Peter has extensive experience in the insurance and asset management industries. He has experience both of working for a large multinational corporation and of starting up new businesses.  Peter brings a strong analytical ability together with a deep understanding of the financial services markets (in particular insurance) across Europe.

Abigail Ronald-Louw

Legal Services

Abigail is a South African Attorney and Notary Public with over 20 years of commercial and contract law experience.

She got a BA in Political science in her undergrad before completing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1992 to 1998 an then entering private practice, rising to Partner at H Miller, Ackermann and Bronstein Attorneys in 2001.

She established her legal practice in Johannesburg in 2013, specialising in high court, civil, corporate and commercial litigation, gaming law, local government law, insurance, company law, construction and liquidations.

She is a Notary Public, concentrating on the drafting of commercial contracts, antenuptial contracts and notarizing and authenticating documents for foreign use. She has served as the Company Secretary of South African Black Women in Law (SABWiL) since July 2018. She has extensive consulting experience in the field of regulated industries

Gisela Ruth Suchy

Legal Services

Gisela is an independent Avocat and a member of the Versailles Bar (France). She studied Political Science at Sciences Po Lyon – Institut d’Etudes Politiques from 1995 to 1997 before obtaining a Masters in Business Law and Tax with the Marketing Academy in London.

She started her career as Junior Counsel with Arthur Andersen, and later taught Law at the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne, and practiced as a Tax Consultant with TAJ.

She established her legal practice in Versailles in October 2010, specialising in Tax and Estate planning.

DAVID DE SOUSA

Head of Information Technology and Cybersecurity

Nigel has been invovled in the provision of security services for over 40 years. He worked in the Royal Navy for 23 years, including 18 years in the RN Police Services, and culminating as Combined Services Provist Marshall in Gibraltar. He then served in various senior security roles with major corporates, including with Mobil Oil, British Gas, Amoco Corporation and BP Plc, where he he was Deputy Head of Global Security. His previous role was as Group Head of Security for Amec Plc.

In addition to his role with the Advisory Board, Nigel will oversee mandates to review an improve physical security and resilience for our clients operating in emerging markets. 

NIGEL CARPENTER

Advisory Board

Nigel has been involved in the provision of security services for over 40 years. Jeffrey Alam

Advisory Board

Jeffrey served as General Counsel at Noble Resources Limited based in Hong Kong for 15 years.

He holds an LLB Hons from the University of Manchester and qualified as a lawyer in both Hong Kong and the UK. He previously worked as Executive Director/Principal, Morgan Stanley (7 years) and Asia General Counsel (Investments), AIG (7 years).

He now has a Portfolio career, working variously as a Consultant at MinterEllison in Hong Kong, a Director Novus Life Sciences, and Senior Strategic Business Advisor to Provenance Gold Corp.

TAMMAM AKKARI

Advisory Board

Tammam is an international business lawyer and brings to the Board 25 years of experience in coporate commercial, governance and icoporate investments to both companies and family offices.

Tamma’s expertise encompasses cross jurisdictional transactions in multi-cultural environments, and maps closely with the activities of Rubus Law. He brings specialist experience in M&A, the processes across the private equity lifescycle, organisational development and business restructuring/business turnaround.
